The Neighborhood Virtual Visit program is designed to connect those without smartphones or home internet to SLUCare medical providers from participating area churches. The program aims to open access to health care, which has been limited due to the coronavirus pandemic. Initially, the program will serve existing SLUCare patients. We will be accepting new patients into the program soon.
About the Program
Patients who wish to use neighborhood virtual visits should call a special scheduling phone number, 314-977-KIND (5463), to speak with a SLUCare representative. Not all conditions are suited for a virtual visit, so the patient's needs will determine if a SLUCare provider can see the individual online or in person.
Virtual appointments are best for less serious ailments such as:
- Arthritic pain
- Colds and flu
- Insect bites
If a virtual visit is scheduled, the patient will need to select from one of the following church locations.

How the Appointment Works
- Patients call 314-977-KIND (5463) to schedule a virtual visit appointment. The patient can take care of their copayment at this time or pay by mail. AT NO TIME ARE PAYMENTS TO BE MADE AT THE CHURCH.
- Patients should arrive 15 minutes early and check in with a church facilitator, who will confirm the appointment and the provider being seen.
- The facilitator will then take the patient to a private area where the patient will interact with provider via a kiosk, which is an internet-connected computer with camera and audio capabilities.
- No computer skills or tech experience is necessary. The church facilitator will begin the session by logging into the provider’s “waiting room” and making sure everything is set up for the virtual visit. For privacy reasons, the facilitator will not participate in the session and will leave once the session is connected.
- When the provider comes online, they will ask the patient for a verbal consent to treat.
- Once consent is given, the patient can then discuss their issues with the medical provider, who may need to order labs and tests, prescribe medication, offer treatment advice, or determine if it is necessary to see the patient in person.
- When the virtual visit is over, the facilitator will then clean and set the kiosk up for the next patient.
