SLUCare Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health: Expertise for Every Birth
Whether you’re planning for a baby sometime in the future or are currently expecting and looking for the right birth partner, you’ll find expert care and personalized service with SLUCare Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health.
Our physicians and midwives are educators with Saint Louis University School of Medicine, practicing at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – St. Louis, the only hospital in the region named Best Maternity Hospital in 2020 by Newsweek magazine.
By partnering with an academic medical practice, you’ll have access not only to our team of general obstetrician-gynecologists, but also to our experts in genetic counseling, infertility treatment, high-risk pregnancy and maternal-fetal care. Whatever your need, wherever you are in your pregnancy journey, our SLUCare team can help.
What can you expect when you choose a SLUCare ob/gyn?
Doctors who don’t rush nature. Our physicians practice patient waiting with laboring moms, resulting in lower rates of C-section, episiotomy and elective early deliveries. We also encourage vaginal birth after cesarean, or VBAC, when it’s safe for both mother and baby.
Personalized care. Though our team at St. Mary’s delivers a lot of babies (thousands each year), you won’t feel like a number here. Each mom, each birth, each baby receives individual attention from doctors, nurses, residents and fellows focused on your unique needs.
Assurance when complications arise. Our team is experienced in both low-risk and high-risk pregnancy and delivery, so we’re ready for whatever needs may develop. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists are always on standby and there’s a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) on site, where newborns with immediate needs receive high-level care close to Mom.
Extra help for moms who need it. The WISH Clinic at St. Mary’s brings together SLUCare Obstetrics and Gynecology providers, nurse practitioners, social workers, and soon, a psychiatrist to provide comprehensive prenatal care for women with substance abuse issues.
