Oral Biopsy Service

Offering evaluation and diagnosis of oral lesions for adults and children

SLUCare Pathology offers the St. Louis region’s only oral biopsy diagnostic service, specializing in the evaluation of oral lesions in both adults and children. We provide a local resource to support the work of area dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists and endodontists.

As part of an academic medical practice, we offer both a large array of technical resources and a wealth of expertise. Our oral pathology team includes board-certified  oral and maxillofacial pathologists who also see patients in clinic.

Dr. Dan Stoeckel and Dr. Richard Vargo bring their expertise in clinical dentistry into the lab, where it informs their perspective in evaluating tissue under the microscope. The doctors understand the importance of finding answers for patients and will work directly with dental specialists to provide an accurate diagnosis.  For complicated cases, our team can access the technical and professional resources of the entire SLUCare Department of Pathology.

When a diagnosis necessitates additional care, count on our doctors to connect you and your patient with other SLUCare experts, including specialists in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery or Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
