Molecular Oncology Testing for Solid Tumors

Analysis of genetic changes observed in solid tumors allows for the characterization of the tumor, selection of optimal therapy, and prognostication. Our lab offers a variety of molecular diagnostic assays that allow for the detection and characterization of these genetic changes. Tests include the following.

Genetic Mutation Tumor

HER2 Amplification Breast Cancer

Inherited Genetic Testing

The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory offers testing for the assessment of the following inherited mutations.

Inherited Mutation Disorder

HFE mutations (C282Y and H63D) Hemochromatosis

For consultations regarding molecular oncology, molecular hematopathology, or inherited genetic testing, please contact Dr. Karen Moser at karen.moser@health.slu.edu.

Reporting

Written reports with interpretation are generally available within five working days for all tests except those performed on formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) specimens, which have a turnaround time of 10 days. For SLU Hospital clients, final reports are sent to the patients electronic health record (Epic). For clients outside SLU Hospital or SLUCare clinics, final reports may be faxed to the ordering physician or available through our password-protected Internet results module. The medical directors and/or laboratory director are available to discuss the results if needed.
