Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry Care
The 16-bed geriatric psychiatry unit at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is staffed by SLUCare physicians specializing in the management of delirium, behavioral disturbances in dementia, mood disorders, psychoses, and other serious late-life mental disorders requiring hospitalization. A highly trained team of nurses, aides, social workers, neuropsychologist and other therapists work closely with medical students, resident physicians, fellows from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and attending geriatric psychiatrists.
Our outpatient and inpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) service for the elderly, especially those at high-risk, has become a regional resource.
