Provider Onboarding — Marketing

Welcome! We're excited you've joined Saint Louis University and SLUCare Physician Group. Marketing is an important part of communicating the amazing work that you will be doing for our patients and their families. It is our goal make sure patients can locate you when they need your expertise. 

Here, you'll find an overview of SLUCare marketing resources, information about the SLUCare brand, and tips for ensuring the accuracy of your information.

Meeting with Marketing

Ideally, we like to welcome new providers with an initial onboarding meeting. You will likely receive a Zoom invitation via email from one of the members on our team.

You will also receive an email that includes a link with a request to complete our online Provider Profile Form. Your answers give us the information we need to create a biography in your Find a Doctor profile on Your provider information is also shared with our hospital partners at SSM Health. The information in their Provider Finder is populated by the SLUCare Find a Doctor tool.

In addition to completing the profile form, we will also want to get your official SLUCare photo. This picture will be used in Find a Doctor and will be shared with our operations team to include in the new patient packet. The sooner we get your picture, the faster we can begin sharing it among our network.

SLUCare marketing guidelines require you to wear a SLUCare lab coat for your photo. Each department and division should provide a lab coat for new providers. If your new coat hasn’t yet arrived, don’t worry; we can provide one for you to wear at the photo session. 

Depending on the area in which you will be practicing, we may also want you to have a profile video. We will work with you to find a date and time to record your video.  

NOTE: In Find a Doctor, education, location and contact information is fed through SLUCare’s credentialing database. To request edits to this information, please contact Lisa Thornton in the Credentialing office.

Action Items

Your Online Reputation and Footprint

We will work with you to ensure that your online information is as accurate as possible. We also want you to appear at the top of internet searches. Updating your professional and personal online profiles to say that you work at SLUCare Physician Group and Saint Louis University School of Medicine  provides a more seamless transition into our practice and will minimize confusion for our patients and referring providers.

Please visit the following sites to update your personal information.

  • National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Google My Business listing
    •  We will establish and manage a new listing(s) for you. 
    •  If you have an existing listing, we will request a transfer of ownership  so we can update your information. If we are unsuccessful in our request, we may ask you to contact your previous employer to transfer ownership or remove the listing.
  • Any personal social media or professional accounts such as:
    • LinkedIn
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Instagram
    • Etc. 

NOTE: If you are interested in promoting your services through social media, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the University’s guidelines and policies. Kristofor Long manages SLUCare’s social media and will be happy to talk with you about posting and promoting services through the practice and University accounts/ channels.

  • Update all profiles to say that you now work at SLUCare Physician Group and/or Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Online Ratings and Rankings

SLUCare Physician Group uses PRC for our patient experience survey data. PRC ratings are trusted ratings and reviews from surveys given to our patients. These star ratings are published on our website to help increase consumer engagement and to become a more trusted source in the physician selection process.

It is vital that you make sure your NPI number is affiliated with SLUCare Physician Group for us to begin capturing your star ratings. Please note that not every provider will have star ratings.

Faculty 180

Faculty 180 is a Saint Louis University data repository for faculty CV information. It is important for you to input your information, as this tool feeds and populates the Find Our Faculty pages that appear on the Saint Louis University School of Medicine website.  

Faculty 180 is housed in the Tools section on You will need your user ID and password to gain access.

Update your profile as applicable:

  • Add additional credentials
  • Include your clinical specialty and sub-specialties
  • Add your current title/position
    • Example: SLUCare Orthopaedic Surgeon; Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, Saint Louis University School of Medicine
  • Update your contact information (academic office address and phone number)
  • Add skills and expertise
  • Add experience, affiliations, education and training
  • Ensure your certifications and licensures are accurate
  • Add awards, honors and recognition
  • Find and import your publications and presentations from PubMed
  • Add committee, professional memberships and any leadership positions held
  • Include other languages spoken
  • Add any additional information that may be relevant

Marketing and Media Channels

Website — provides information on service lines, programs, staff profiles and serves as a resource for patients, families, health care professionals and the community.

Social media — SLUCare and SLU use social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to connect with patients and families, health care professionals and the community. We would prefer that you use established accounts and channels when communicating SLUCare or University messages.

e-Newsletters — We have internal and external newsletters and are always looking for content. Please reach out to your marketing team with any story ideas.

Content marketing — Your marketing team has secured communication channels with the local media, giving us opportunities to publicly share great news, patient stories, advances in technology or treatments, and any cutting-edge research.  

Collateral materials — We develop faculty sheets for each of our departments and divisions. When necessary, we develop rack cards for specialty areas of service.

Physician liaisons — Our liaisons work with new providers to ensure that initial referral introductions are made. For established providers, our team works with our main areas of focus to ensure that we are maintaining relationships with our current referring providers and sourcing for new referral opportunities.

Our University Media Relations Team

News media — SLUCare and Saint Louis University are often featured in the news, and physicians are frequently requested for interview. We also submit media releases when something is newsworthy.
